Heavy Rains Bring Chaos to Dubai, Flooding Airports and Highways

Record Rainfall Causes Flight Delays and Cancellations

Dubai International Airport Temporarily Diverts Flights

The United Arab Emirates has been hit by the heaviest rainfall in 75 years, causing widespread chaos and flooding in Dubai. The heavy rains flooded parts of Dubai International Airport, leading to scores of flight delays and cancellations. Other cities in the UAE were also affected by the flooding, with major highways impassable and vehicles abandoned on roadways.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported that some areas of Dubai received up to 10 inches of rain, with the heaviest rainfall occurring in the Al Quoz Industrial Area. The rainfall led to flash flooding in several areas of the city, including the airport and major highways.

Dubai International Airport, one of the world's busiest airports, was forced to divert flights due to the flooding. The airport was closed for several hours, causing major disruptions to air travel. The airport reopened on Wednesday, but some flights were still being delayed or canceled.

The heavy rains also caused flooding in other parts of the UAE, including Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain. Major highways were impassable, and vehicles were abandoned on roadways. The flooding also caused power outages in some areas.

The NCM has warned that more rain is possible in the coming days, and has urged residents to be prepared for further flooding.
